Dr. Vikas Vithal Shinde

Director & Founder

Dr. Vikas Vithal Shinde is a seasoned academician, researcher, and innovator with over 23 years of experience in engineering education, research, and institutional leadership. He currently serves as the Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Centre of Excellence in Project-Based Learning (PBL) at Vishwaniketan iMEET, Khalapur, affiliated with Mumbai University.

Dr. Shinde holds the distinction of being India’s first Ph.D. in Project-Based Learning, awarded by Aalborg University, Denmark, under the UNESCO Chair in PBL. He was a recipient of the prestigious “Erasmus Mundus Mobility for Life” scholarship from the European Union and continues to lead international collaborations as a Steering Committee member in Erasmus+ projects involving institutions from India, Denmark, Spain, Bulgaria, Thailand, and Pakistan.

With a deep passion for educational innovation, Dr. Shinde has conducted over 500+ national and international workshops, training 22,000+ educators in PBL, human-centric design, and modern teaching-learning methodologies. His areas of research include PBL model design, hydrogen energy, and human-centric engineering education.

Dr. Shinde is also an entrepreneur and the Founder & Director of Dnyanda Sustainable Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a startup dedicated to sustainable technologies and engineering innovations. He has collaborated with industry giants like TATA Steel, Selec Controls, and KSPG Automotive, establishing six Centres of Excellence and four industrial labs to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

His academic contributions include seven textbooks, 43 journal publications, and two patents, including one on on-site hydrogen production for internal combustion engines. He has also provided consultancy to over 22 institutions for NAAC and NBA accreditation, playing a pivotal role in quality enhancement and curriculum development, including the Multi-entry Multi-exit Curriculum for IGNOU, New Delhi.

Having visited 17 countries and six global universities, including Aalborg University (Denmark) and Aalto University (Finland), Dr. Shinde brings a global perspective to Indian engineering education. His vision is to foster regional Centres of Excellence in PBL and promote a scientific, scalable approach to engineering education across the nation.
